Yesterday I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I got some great feedback, so great in fact that I went and drove one last night. Until yesterday I had never even considered an Audi nor could I fathom driving anything besides a 5/6 speed manual. By lunch time today I had carefully reviewed all colors and options and made a decision! I traded my 2008 E90 M3 on an 2016 Sepang Blue S3. Options selected: Performance package (magnetic damping), sport seats, B&O sound system.
It’s the first time that I have bought a brand new car in the color that I want with all of the options that I want. I will miss the M3, but I never gave it the track time it deserved and it’s kind of silly to pay for all of that performance just to punch it on entrance ramps. Needless to say I’m super excited to get this car (have to wait 7-10 business days)...I’m going to go crazy.
Side note. This community (Oppo) of enthusiasts is fucking awesome. I really enjoy not doing things that I should do at work, and chatting with all of you.

I ordered my FIesta ST.....I. Waited. 4. Months. You can wait the 7-10 days. But it is worth every second.

Congrats! Enjoy the DSG FARTS

Congrats man. Sepang blue is beautiful

Congratulations, and great color choice.

Haha, this is a dealbreaker for me. It just makes me giggle to see a “performance car” making such an odd sound.
It seems alot of the new small turbo German cars make similar farts. :/
![]() 07/24/2015 at 15:48 |

You can’t be a German car without farting now.

Haha they told me the wait for a Golf R would be 3 months and they couldn’t guarantee a me a car. For those reasons I said nope.

Haha I noticed that on the test drive, cant wait to break those seats in with some farts of my own!

‘Grats. Awesome color, awesome car. Any noticeable differences in handling compared to an A4/S4 given that it’s Haldex-based and transverse, as opposed to the typical Audi longitudinal Quattro setup?

Thank you I’m so excited.

I waited about 3 months for my 335i. Accepted some compromises and got my S4 in a week.

Congrats on the new ride!

Recommendation for odd smells in a new car:
Drive about 1 hour with the windows down and get to high speed. The next day it will be just as new, I have gone through every drive-thru in town and a year has passed with people still saying “I love the smell of new car” when they get inside.

It’s due to how the engine control software alters the timing to cut revs fast enough for the upshift. In my experience you don’t hear it with ordinary manuals or automatics, just the dual-clutch boxes. The big german non-turbos do it too.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 15:55 |

Yes the transmission was the compromise it took me all night last night to get over it lol. Still have the E46 though which is a manual.

Thanks! Not sure its the first Audi I have driven in a long time!

seriously. Audi always has the nicest blues!

-internal monologue-
be nice, don’t say anything sarcastic. you’ll be able to have nice cars someday, and this person clearly has done well for themselves. it’s not their fault you chose to get a history degree. don’t be jealous. no, don’t say that. this is Oppo. rule #1...sigh...
-hands begin typing on their own-
You suck.

Awesomesauce!
I got passed by a very nice looking girl in a daytona grey S3 yesterday and thought, very nice!
About both.

I absolutely love that color if I was gonna buy an S3 that is the same color that I would get. Hope you enjoy it!

Congrats man! Sepang Blue is the best color on that car. Every time I play around with the configurator, that’s what I always choose, hahaha. Can’t wait to see pics of the real thing!

I think I’m gonna make a “shades of blue, ranked” post sometime soon. Sepang blue will be up there

Haha I’ll take that. I got my degree in snowboarding lol. I’m just real good with a computer and worked multiple jobs in my younger years.

I really love whatever you call the blue on the RS4
![]() 07/24/2015 at 16:35 |

lol it’s the same color. For some reason I remembered it being flatter and brighter.

Seriously though, that’s a sweet ride, and awesome choice on the color.

Sad to hear about the E90, but this is a great ride! Love the color, my local dealer has an S4 in that blue with a matching blue alcantara interior.. Looks SO good. I would honestly buy it if it were manual, and I'm not just saying that either haha
![]() 07/24/2015 at 16:53 |
|
Yea man I am really going to miss the E90, but warranty was up and the last time I had an M3 out of warranty I didn’t have a house or a fiance. I was also adding a qt of oil ever 1000 miles which I was told by numerous BMW techs that it was ok, but I just don’t buy it.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 16:55 |
|
Ah at least you chose the right time to get out. Are you planning on keeping the S3 out of warranty? (I know that’s a long way off)
![]() 07/24/2015 at 17:05 |
|
Probably not. I’ve got my E46 M3 back free and clear so the Audi will more than likely get replaced by my next DD. Crazy to say when I have not even taken delivery yet, but probably what will happen
![]() 07/24/2015 at 17:10 |
|
Ah okay, with the E46 getting a more reliable daily makes sense.. How much trouble has the E46 given you? I wanna pick one up but I can only find higher mileage examples near me..
![]() 07/24/2015 at 17:17 |
|
Traitor!
J/K, if you aren’t tracking a M3 there’s better DD’s out there. S3 is just the right size (now that the 335i is so big).
![]() 07/24/2015 at 18:00 |

HAHAHA my thoughts exactly. Literally.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 18:19 |

Congratulations! I expect a full video and text review...

Yea man, it stings a little but I'm happy with the S3.

It took nearly 6 months for the Focus ST to be delivered...

The E46 is the most reliable car I’ve had to date! I bought it in late 07’ (it’s an 02’) with 24k miles. It’s got 88k now and the only thing that has ever happened is a bad ignition coil. Other than that it’s just tires and brakes that took my money. It was briefly sold to a family member who never drove it so I got it back at a discount. I would say that the biggest thing with owning an older or out of warranty M car is having a trustworthy mechanic. When I first bought it I took it to the dealer and they said that I had an oil leak that was going to cost me $1600. I took it to a nearby inde shop and he told me everything that I need to look out for. Then he fixed my oil leak for $125!

Congratulations, man!
I bet that Sepang Blue is more stunning in person :)

There was an S5 and and SQ5 on the lot in Sepang. It looked good, but I feel like its better suited on the smaller cars. I can’t wait to see mine.

nice - you’ll have to tell us how you like the DSG box once you’ve played with it a bit. A neighbor up the street has a GTI with one - it shifts so fast!
![]() 07/25/2015 at 14:01 |

The test drive was the most aggressive test drive I have ever done. The guy from the dealer whipped it harder than I did! It was to the point where I thought “this guy is definitely going to get pulled over.” To be honest the DSG was the best I have driven besides the Porsche PDK. It’s no manual though :/ I will provide better feedback once I’ve taken delivery and had some time to play with it!

Congrats! You’re going to love the DSG. That color is absolutely perfect. Wish my S4 had the magnetic ride option. You’re in main line area right? We should meet up sometime!

Be glad you didn’t go with an M5.
And the procedure to place the M5 into launch control is absolutely the most convoluted process our team has ever encountered. It’s supposed to work like this: First, you need to place the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission in manual mode. Then, you hit the little button below the shifter joystick twice to put the transmission into the fastest shift mode. Next, you hold the traction control button down for about 10 seconds to turn all the nannies off. Then you touch the brake pedal lightly with your left foot and with your right hand push the stick forward. Next, release the brake. Finally, you simultaneously jam the throttle to the floor (making sure to really jam it, as the BMW, like the Porsche, has a stupid detent about 90 percent of the way down that you have to kick through), and release the stick.

Thanks man. There were two musts when I bought the car, the sport/performance package and, sepang blue! I almost made the jump to the S4 so I could get a manual, but by the time I spec’d it the way I wanted I was way over budget. What year is yours?
Yes sir, I’m a main line local although you’d never know it because I know about and use my turn signals;). There are a few people on here from the area. I have been a hop skip and a jump away from BKRM3 at cars and coffee on several occasions but we have never actually met in person. You’ll find me at West Chester C&C just about any weekend that’s sunny. I usually ride my yellow Grom to c&c, but I can also be found in a phoenix yellow E46 M3, a blue R52 Cooper S, and soon enough, the S3! I will almost always be parked next to an obnoxiously loud Silver BRZ with gold wheels.

Need to get to one of those C&C’s soon. Just moved to Plymouth Meeting area from downtown. Which dealership did you end up getting the S3 from?

I had originally contacted Audi Willow Grove last Thursday, figuring that I would make a better deal there than a main line dealer. However, they did not return my call until Saturday afternoon and by then I had already made a deal at Devon Audi. The car is coming from far away though (Ohio I think).
![]() 07/27/2015 at 10:08 |

I do not like Willow at all. Devon / Warrington are the best in the area IMO.

I thought about Warrington, but I’m in Malvern so that dealer is a hike. Honestly I was not even planning to stop and drive a car, but when I ride the Grom to work I deviate from my normal route and I went right past Devon Audi. They have a really cool showroom and they leave all of the led’s on in the cars that are in the showroom, so it really catches your eye as you go past. I thought “maybe they have one that I can drive” as I was riding past. I should tell their marketing department that they got me hook, line, and sinker!
